A hyperlocal canvas — with big-picture colors
Ever wondered what you could do to invest in The Bronx?
Let us show you.
Our General Strategy
Our General Fund relies on value investing through the “global macro” and “high yield” approaches — meaning we look at time-tested companies in misunderstood sectors that will pay you indefinitely. Dividends are key to generating value for you.
We also process technical variables such as earnings ratios and price history to determine what to buy in each sector — or we pounce on tiny discrepancies between the price of the same stock. With our "fundamental" tools in hand, we research the prospects of companies, currencies and commodities. We also take the time to talk to analysts, meet industry representatives, and attend shareholders' meetings.
Once purchased, securities are allowed to compound in value for the length of an investment period. We target conservative returns between 12% to 33% of the principal with an option to donate a portion of profits. Payments to us are only realized with profits – losses will never be compounded.
Bronx community members form the backbone of our investor base – a pool as diverse as the housing activists, union members, and homeowners who all wish to grow their discretionary funds while giving back. Longstanding relations with New York City officials and Wall Street executives are essential to sourcing participant leads. In fact, professionals with a vested interest in The Bronx will often arrange introductions for potential investors who wish to join us.
We aspire to raise $15M within 40 years to provide incremental capital appreciation for our investors and a persisting channel to charitable giving. We always manage risks according to each investor’s personal objectives with their well-being in mind.
Areas of Specialty
01 — Industrials
One-fifth of our holdings cover the production of capital goods used in construction and manufacturing physical products. Industrials are always needed and tend to persist through economic cycles. As much of the current South Bronx grew out of iron works factories, this sector represents our community’s early development. We see an opportunity in broader real estate trends featuring warehouses.
02 — Pharmaceuticals
One-fifth of our holdings cover research into medical issues and sales of health products. Healthcare is increasingly vital with longer life expectancies. As The Bronx ranks last in health outcomes among all 62 counties in New York, this sector represents our community’s pressing need for improvement. We see an opportunity in ongoing COVID-19 vaccine development — not to mention holistic treatments.
03 — Infrastructure
One-fifth of our holdings cover the maintenance of our grid, including energy (which powers us) and transportation (which moves us). As the South Bronx sits at the crossroads of several railways and bridges, this sector represents our community’s central location throughout history and geography. We see an opportunity in bipartisan political support for offshore energy exploration and local procurement.
04 — Technology
One-fifth of our holdings cover innovation through hardware and software. While this area is volatile, it allows for quicker growth potential (in contrast to non-cyclical sectors). As the South Bronx hosts various incubators, this sector represents our community’s future as a hub for digital creativity. We see an opportunity in the adoption of 5G wireless coverage throughout developed markets.
05 — Indexing
One-fifth of our holdings cover the Standard & Poor’s 500 (or the S&P 500). Comprised of the 500 largest public companies in the world, this group has historically recovered from every recession. As the South Bronx continues to grow in population and economic activity, this framing represents our community’s place within the larger context of the United States. We see an opportunity in future market corrections.
We set the standard for Uptown excellence.
Our service is unrivaled across New York City because no one does what we do.
