Cecil K. Brooks, Jr.
Founder & CEO
Cecil is a lifelong Bronxite of Afro-Indigenous Central American heritage. From an early age, he witnessed how poverty followed his family from the poorest region in the Americas to the poorest county in the United States. Cecil launched Mott Haven Capital Partners as the first step to creating a new narrative. Mott Haven Capital Partners represents a BIPOC-led movement. The South Bronx is known for its hustle, and a locally-owned hedge fund is the best way to turn inquiries into investment -- and capital into capacity.
Throughout Cecil's career in public service, he shaped economic policy and incentives alike. His commitment to New York draws upon his experiences with Public-Private-Partnerships. Cecil knows how to spot a good deal, and he will identify the best one for your situation. Previous roles include sales at the inaugural Africa Investment Forum (Johannesburg), reports on commodity markets at a U.S. Embassy (Lima), team-building during a pilot eco-tourism retreat (Koh Tao), and pitching the nation’s first integrated mobile wallet to hundreds of venture capitalists (Maine).
Cecil leans into his expertise in public finance, financial literacy, and startup capital to build wealth in underserved markets. In his free time he volunteers as a Community Board member. He is also an active philanthropist, supporting green spaces, the performing arts, and workforce development across The Bronx & Harlem. Cecil is a proud alum of Colby College and the Coro New York Fellows Program in Public Affairs.
“Rather than think of it as somewhere to run from, the Bronx is somewhere to invest.”
— ALEXANDRIA OCASIO-CORTEZ
“People ask how can a Jewish kid from the Bronx do preppy clothes? Does it have to do with class and money? It has to do with dreams.”
— RALPH LAUREN
“I don't need bodyguards. I'm from the South Bronx.”
— AL PACINO
“For the red carpet, I'm totally a stiletto girl. But in the rest of my life, I'd say I'm 50/50. I love a good heel, but I also have a really great sneaker collection. That's the Bronx girl in me.”
— KERRY WASHINGTON
